A virtual power plant (VPP) remotely combines a network of independent energy resources (like solar batteries) into a network that can provide a stable supply of power. By connecting a network of home solar batteries, virtual power plants have the resources to quickly feed power back into the grid whenever it is needed, supply homes with power & reduce dependence on fossil fuels. This network is called a virtual “power plant” because it can be coordinated and managed like a traditional power plant. RK Solar is in partnership with Discover Energy to give our customers the power to take control of their solar energy.

EXCELLENT Based on 178 reviews Posted on Google Marcus ChanTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Phil was knowledgable about the available options for Solar install, and worked with us to get the solution we wanted.Posted on Google Mike HordTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The installers were very friendly and did a great job installing our new Solar System. Happy to recommend RK Solar.Posted on Google Kerrie ChambersTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Very happy with RK Solar. They didnt try to oversell and gave me realistic advice as to what was achievable on my very small roof. Happy to recommend this companyPosted on Google Monica BodeTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Highly recommended. I had requested quotes from several companies and only RK Solar phoned to make an appointment, came down to check our switchboard and discuss our needs. The quote was prepared at our home and the sales person was able to answer my questions (note I received quotes from other companies, I asked questions about the set-up of panels on the roof, namely some wanting to install panels on the south & south-east). Price was good & competitive. The installation took place on the date agreed, the work was neat: cables were installed in the cavity, some of our roof tiles needed to be replaced which was carried out, job was done in 1 day: we have a system with 30 panels on 3 different areas on the roof. We have today a system installed & working, easy to monitor so recommending RK Solar, they obviously are experienced and carried out a good job.Posted on Google Jeremy ChanTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Very good experience with Karan and his team. He took the time to come out and assess my steep roof where other installers were more keen to do cheap deals over the phone and then renege closer to the time. I was impressed with his Enphase microinverter technical knowledge and his honesty and I am now hooked on the Enphase Enlighten app which gives good insight of my solar generation. His team of installers were professional and friendly too. I will have no hesitation in recommending Karan and RK Solar & Consulting Services.Posted on Google Andrew MilatTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. These guys are outstanding and I could not be happier with the service and quality of product/installation provided by RK Solar & Consulting Services! We had our solar system installed by them back in April 2023. The response time receiving their quote was extremely quick and once we accepted they had our panels installed within 1-2 weeks. The panels look amazing and come with a 25 year warranty! Since the installation 9 months ago we've had absolutely no issues and no down time whatsoever. Everything is running as it should and we have at least halved our electricity bill. Thank you to Kunal and his team of experts for a wonderful experience and top quality workmanship!Posted on Google Gautam KTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Best Solar installation. I had gone through top 5 solar companies in NSW and all of them were unable to deliver due to the steep roof. The roof was at 40degree steep. Some of them committed and after the on-site visit they pulled out. RK solar were amazing. Best service and they went over and above without compromising the safety for the installers. Best team and amazing customer service. Thanks guys - great work.

The short answer is no. Unfortunately, having solar panels alone isn’t good enough to eliminate your energy bills. These are the main reasons why:
Low Feed-In-Tariffs
Over the years, the feed-in-tariff rates offered by energy retailers have significantly dropped. Before this, solar panel owners could sell excess solar energy back to the retailers for a reasonable price and make some savings on their bills. However recent rates offered by the retailers meant that customers are buying energy at a higher rate than their selling price. It does not make sense to be depending on feed-in-tariffs to make a saving.
Higher Bills From Night Time Energy Usage
Solar panels are an excellent investment. However, to get a good amount of savings in your bills, your house needs to be using more energy during the daytime as compared to night. However, most households have a higher electricity usage in the evenings when the whole family is back from work or school. Nighttime energy usage requires you to import electricity from the grid and pay retail electricity prices. Depending on the level of household activity, you could be paying up to thousands of dollars a year in energy bills just for using energy during peak periods.
Proposed tariffs for exporting solar energy
Australia has one of the highest solar uptakes in the world, with around 30% of homes fitted with solar technology. This massive shift to solar energy has helped millions of households generate clean renewable energy and help reduce our reliance on fossil fuels. However, when a large number of households generate and sell their excess energy back into the grid at the same time, a huge strain is put on the electricity grid. To overcome this, the government has proposed to impose tariffs on those exporting solar into the grid during peak periods.
