Commercial Solar Installed at Sushi World Banksmeadow NSW

Commercial Solar For Food Service Business - 12.96Kw System At Sushi World, Banksmeadow Nsw

A Smart Move Towards Sustainability and Savings

Sushi World Banksmeadow, a business in NSW, decided to install a 12.96kW commercial solar power system as part of their move toward sustainability and cost savings.

Like many other Australian businesses, they wanted to cut down on high electricity bills and reduce their carbon emissions – two major benefits of switching to solar.

Because it uses a lot of electricity for refrigeration that runs every day, their power demand is steady and constant.

This makes solar energy the ideal solution, as the panels generate electricity throughout the day, allowing them to offset daily consumption and reduce reliance on the grid.

Why Solar Was the Smart Choice for Sushi World

Electricity prices in Australia have been rising steadily, and businesses that use a lot of power like restaurants and food service operations are especially affected because they run equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, and kitchen appliances all day long.

Sushi World chose solar to save money, operate more sustainably, and secure their energy future.

Reduce high energy bills – Since their refrigerators and other equipment run constantly, solar panels allow them to generate their own electricity during the day, cutting down on expensive power from the grid.

Lower carbon footprint – By using renewable solar energy, they are reducing the greenhouse gases their business produces, contributing to a cleaner environment.

Long-term energy independence – Generating their own electricity means they are less affected by future electricity price increases, giving them more financial stability and control.

How RK Solar Made It Happen

Design, supply, and installation

RK Solar was responsible for planning the solar system, supplying all the components, and installing the system so it works perfectly for their specific needs.

Site inspection and shading solution

Our engineers checked the roof carefully and found some shading caused by air-conditioning units. Shading can reduce the efficiency of solar panels. To fix this, RK Solar recommended SolarEdge DC Optimisers. These devices allow each solar panel to work independently, so even if one panel is shaded, the others continue to generate electricity efficiently.

Panel and inverter selection

We chose Trina Solar 360W panels, known for their reliability and long life, and paired them with a SolarEdge 16kW inverter, which converts the solar energy from the panels into usable electricity for the business.

RK Solar designed a smart, efficient, and reliable solar system, solved potential shading issues, and used high-quality equipment to ensure they get maximum energy output and savings.

What Steps RK Solar Took to Install the System

Site Assessment & Design – RK Solar first inspected the building and studied energy usage. This allowed the team to design a solar system that perfectly meets their needs and makes the most efficient use of the roof space.

Installation – The team mounted 36 x Trina Solar panels and 18 x SolarEdge DC Optimisers on the roof securely, ensuring the system was installed safely and correctly.

Monitoring Setup – The system was connected to SolarEdge’s monitoring platform, which allows it to track energy production in real time, see savings, and ensure everything is performing as expected.

RK Solar handled everything from planning to setup and monitoring, ensuring the solar system is safe, efficient, and easy for the business to use.

Key features and performance

System Size – 12.96kW

Panels – 36 × Trina Solar 360W

Inverter – SolarEdge 16kW

DC Optimisers – 18 × SolarEdge P800

Annual Solar Production – 18.4 MWh

Average Daily Solar Generation – 50.4 kWh

Annual CO₂ Offset – 13 tonnes (equal to planting 93 trees)

Return on Investment – 26.47%

Annual Savings – $1,901.75

Payback Period – 3.8 years

Sushi World Banksmeadow’s 12.96kW commercial solar system is a perfect example of smart energy investment. With 36 high-quality Trina Solar 360W panels, the system can generate enough electricity to power the building efficiently.

The SolarEdge 16kW inverter converts the energy from the panels into usable electricity for the restaurant. To maintain maximum performance even when parts of the roof are shaded, 18 SolarEdge P800 DC optimisers were installed. These devices allow each panel to operate independently, ensuring that no energy goes to waste.

On an average day, the system generates around 50.4 kWh of electricity, while over a full year, it produces 18.4 MWh – enough to significantly offset the restaurant’s energy consumption. The environmental benefits are notable, with an annual CO₂ reduction of 13 tonnes, equivalent to planting 93 trees.

From a financial perspective, the system delivers a 26.47% return on investment, helping to save an estimated $1,901.75 every year on electricity bills. With a payback period of just 3.8 years, the solar installation quickly pays for itself, making it a smart, long-term investment.

This solar system is efficient, sustainable, and cost-effective, providing reliable energy, significant savings, and a smaller carbon footprint, all while supporting their day-to-day operations.

The Result – the outcome of installing the solar system at Sushi World Banksmeadow

By generating their own electricity from the solar panels, the restaurant now spends less on power.

The system provides consistent electricity, ensuring that their operations, like refrigeration, run smoothly without interruptions.

Using solar energy helps reduces the restaurant’s carbon footprint, making the business more environmentally friendly.

Overall, the project demonstrates how local businesses can use solar technology to save money, reduce their environmental impact, and maintain smooth day-to-day operations. It highlights both the financial and environmental benefits, showing that solar is a smart and sustainable investment for commercial properties.
